| Instructor: Amy Dignan Description: Students will be required to complete course work in Family Life Education, Driver Education, and First Aid/CPR instruction as well as meeting the objectives for the Physical Education component. The Driver Education requirement ("classroom" NOT "behind the wheel") must be fulfilled through a certified driving school or course that is monitored by a Virginia Endorsed Driver Education Instructor. Options available include: |
|
| There is a cost for this for the Driver Education component. Tuition reduction is offered to compensate for a portion of the cost. The First Aid/CPR requirement can be fulfilled online. However, if certification is desired, the student may complete this through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. |
| The Physical Education component must be completed in a gym or other athletic facility. Students will be required to obtain verification through logs signed by fitness professionals. Extracurricular sports will be considered for partial fulfillment of the physical curriculum component with instructor approval. The contract must be completed to enter into the HPE course and ALL fitness hours must be completed during the course session to receive credit. Enrollment Criteria: The purpose of the Virtual High School Physical Education Course is to provide a scheduling alternative to students who are enrolled in specialty programs where six class periods are needed to meet advanced diploma or specialty program requirements. Enrollment will be limited. Acceptance priority will be given to students who verify enrollment in programs where only a singe period exists for scheduling electives or other program requirements. At the time of registration a copy of a schedule signed by the student’s guidance counselor will be required. |
